This means that your naps have been a little rough, but it sure is fun to have you be a bit more interactive!

Alert and Awake
Over the last few days, you have become even more alert. You will turn your neck and strain to see where I am walking if you are lounging in your swing. Sometimes when we are trying to rock you to sleep in your room, you catch the light on the ceiling and can't stop staring at it.

Bear Suit
Before we even knew if you were a boy or a girl, Mom and Dad bought the cutest bear suit for you. We wanted to bring you home from the hospital in it, but you were too small! You are finally able to wear it and it is the cutest thing.
It is super warm so you love wearing it and almost always fall asleep when you have it on. You wore it at Grandma and Grandpa's house when you were meeting family and earlier this week when we went to Target. After a rough night of sleep, you fell asleep wearing it, so we were afraid to take it off. You slept like a starfish in your crib for about 30 minutes before stirring. Big accomplishment considering how much you love being swaddled.
You change every day and every day I discover more things that I am amazed by. I love you.
xoxo,
Mom

One Month
You are one month old. I can't believe how fast the time is going. At your one month doctor appointment, you were 23 inches long (98th percentile!) and 10 pounds, 4 ounces.
You are starting to like being read to, listening to music (and Mom singing along), and bath time. You can hear Mom and Dad's voices and turn to see us. You are even starting to sneak in a real smile every once in awhile.
You still aren't a big fan of getting your diaper changed, but you are starting to tolerate it more. You are starting to fill out a bit more and are cuter than ever!
The other night, Dad was trying to get you to go to sleep, but you weren't having it. He sat down on the bed and laid you on his chest. You just sat there all content looking at him like he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was the most adorable thing I have ever seen.

Week Four
Week Four
I can't believe we are on your fourth week! Dad went "back" to work this week. He actually started a brand new job, so hopefully he can manage with the small amount of sleep you are letting him get.
Mom and Barrett time is going pretty well so far. You are starting to develop more of a pattern with your sleeping and eating, which lets mom rest after marathon 1.5 hour rocking sessions in the middle of the night because you refuse to sleep.
On Thursday this week, mom worked up the courage to go to a mom's group. This was your first outing just the two of you and went well. You only cried in your car seat a little bit.
This weekend you are going to have lots of visitors. A bunch of Mom's family is coming to meet you!

Week Three
Week Three
You keep having visitors. Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Tim came to help out for a bit. With that, we moved back upstairs to Mom and Dad's room to sleep. You love to snooze in their bed instead of your own.
You are starting to have longer happy, awake periods and especially love bath time now that we figured out the right temperature and amount of water. After your bath seems to be your happiest time. Even though we can't quite get you to smile yet, we seem to get quite a few pictures where you look like a happy guy.
Dad figured out the Moby carrier. Mom can't quite get it.
On Sunday, Ben and Nicole came to visit and you got all dressed up in this snazzy outfit. Your 3 month clothes are finally starting to fit!
Week Two
Week Two
On Sunday this week, you met your Uncle Jeremiah and Auntie Amber.
Mom and Dad are slowly adjusting to the new normal of sleep. You seem to be doing just fine!
We started reading you books this week. You love to listen and even look at pictures of monkeys in one of your books.

Week One
Week One
We brought you home from the hospital on Monday afternoon. Grandma DeeDee came over to help out for a few days. Things went pretty well, but then on Tuesday you decided you didn't want to eat any more. We had to call the doctor's office to see what we should do and ended up pumping and feeding you with an eye dropper. A few hours later, you started eating again.
We think that you have a sensitive tummy and had some gas pain making you not want to eat. Let's not do that again. Mom couldn't stop crying she was so worried about you since you were supposed to be eating every 2-3 hours to gain back your weight.
We ended up moving downstairs later in the week to take turns staying up with you at night since it was easier for us to stay awake while watching TV. We watched all four seasons of the show New Girl and started some other shows and movies as well.
You had your first doctor appointment on Thursday and also got circumcised. You were a trooper through all the poking and prodding.
On Saturday, you got to meet a bunch of family at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Even though your umbilical cord was about to fall off and was super stinky, they were happy to meet you.
